Birmingham City Council Education Safeguarding Team has presented Jo Bodkin, Lead Primary Mental Health Worker for Forward Thinking Birmingham, with a special award in recognition of her work supporting local schools.
The prestigious prize was given at a ceremony dedicated to projects supporting children’s safeguarding at the St Andrew’s stadium, home to Birmingham City FC, earlier this month.
Jo was commended in the Education Safeguarding - Partner Contribution category for her work with a range of primary and secondary schools to support children and young people experiencing mental health problems and emotional distress.
Nominated by schools within the east of the city, Jo was among a number of winners on the night whose contributions have helped Birmingham schoolchildren to grow up in a safe, supported environment. Other stars on the night included a school nurse and a community paediatrician, alongside individual schools which have shown an innovative approach to practice.
Jo leads our Schools Link team, which works with Birmingham-based schools providing information, training and support around mental health issues. We’re incredibly proud that her hard work and dedication has been recognised with this special accolade.
