We welcomed former Minister of State for Care and Support, Norman Lamb MP, to our drop-on centre Pause recently to offer an insight into our innovative service.
Known for his passion for improving mental health services, Mr Lamb, was keen to know more about our care model and see how Forward Thinking Birmingham has developed over the last 12 months.
After talking with Associate Services Director, Karen Kelly and Pause Service Manager, Sarah Cresswell, he was given a tour of Pause by our volunteer Kia, who showed him the space and talked through some of the workshops and activities that take place there.
Mr Lamb was keen to know more about Forward Thinking Birmingham after joining speakers from our service at last year’s Shout Out for Youth Mental Health event at the MAC Birmingham.
As well as discussing the importance of service development he asked about the challenges we’ve faced in transforming services. He was supportive of our model and the work of Pause, understanding the value of joined-up services and early intervention in mental health issues.
